Pippi Longstocking: a must read for every girls (I think)

My daughter and I just finished reading the adventures of Pippi Longstocking and I think it’s a good laugh. Pippi Longstocking  is a true model of feminism. She makes her own clothes, cook her own food and just generally looks after herself.  My 8-year-old daughter thinks she’s wonderful and would like to be like her, independent, confident, strong and not giggly at all.

Reading the story reminded me of my time as a school girl her age when I used to climb trees, check out the holes on the school walls and see if I can squeeze in and coming home with rip clothes because I tried to go through barbed wires. It’s a shame that my daughter will not have the chance to experience those.
